Important Update: Pricing Adjustment for Mac mini M4 SSDs

In recent weeks, we’ve been facing some significant changes in the supply chain that are directly affecting the cost of components used in the making of the SSD modules, particularly the brand new NAND chips.

The market for Apple approved NAND chips has become increasingly volatile, largely due to the influx of new players entering the industry. With more entities competing for a limited supply, demand for these chips has skyrocketed, but the production capacity remains the same — there are only 2 vendors producing these NAND chips that can be used by the M4 SoC without major modification or hacks. As a result, prices have surged by 30% to 50%, and some of the chips available are refurbished, recycled or suboptimal, which don’t meet the standards we set for our products.

At Expand Mac mini, we are committed to ensuring the highest levels of quality and endurance. If any NAND chips fail our rigorous SMT tests, they will be discarded immediately. We only use brand-new, thoroughly tested chips in our SSDs, but it also means we’re directly affected by the rising prices.

As a result, we will be adjusting the price of the SSDs. Starting 11th February 2025 at 00:00 GMT, the price for Mac mini M4 2TB SSD will increase to 299USD / 239GBP.

Existing customers with active outstanding orders will not be affected by this change. However, if you’ve been considering purchasing the Mac mini SSDs, it might be a good idea to place your order before the price adjustment takes effect.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we navigate these challenges. Our goal remains to deliver the most reliable Mac mini M4 storage upgrade solutions, and we’re committed to keeping you informed every step of the way.
