Apple has announced the new Mac mini, and this time there are two chips: the all-new M6 and the M5 Pro. Pre-orders opened today, machines arrive on 22 September, and prices start at $899 for the M6 and $1,699 for the M5 Pro.
The M6 steps up to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU with Apple's first dual Neural Engine, claiming up to 4x faster AI, 40% faster CPU, and 2x faster graphics and storage. The M5 Pro reaches an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU with up to 64GB of unified memory at 307GB/s. Both move to Wi-Fi 7.

One line stood out for us: 2x faster storage. When the storage path changes, it can mean a new controller, different NAND, or a revised board layout. That is precisely our business, so it is not something we get to guess about.
So will we support the M6 and M5 Pro?
Yes. We will be extending our coverage to both.
The honest part: nobody is 100% certain yet whether our current M4 and M4 Pro modules are future compatible with the new machines. That cannot be settled from a spec sheet. We will run our experiments as soon as we have the actual machines in hand, and we will publish our findings, whatever they turn out to be.
Our own product line is the reason we wait. The M4 and M4 Pro launched on the same day, in the same enclosure, and they still need different modules, because the boards and power designs differ.
If you own a Mac mini M4 or M4 Pro (2024): nothing changes, our current modules are built for your machine. If you are buying a new M6 or M5 Pro: please do not buy a module for it yet, wait for our results.
